Acro (Tumbling)

Grades 6-12
At Playhouse Stage Academy, our Acro class (sometimes called “acro-tumbling”) combines the artistic lines of dance with the athletic thrill of acrobatics and tumbling. It’s perfect for dancers who love to move, flip, stretch—and perform.
All levels: beginners with no prior tumbling experience are welcome, as are more advanced dancers who want to refine and expand their acro-tumbling repertoire.
In our Acro class students will work on:
Safe warm-up, stretching and conditioning specific to acro/tumbling.
Basic tumbling fundamentals such as forward rolls, cartwheels, handstands, bridges. Progressions into walk-overs (front/back), round-offs, back handsprings, aerials, etc!
Conservatory Spring '26

Ages 10-18
Playhouse Stage Conservatory - a multi-faceted training opportunity for pre-professional musical theatre students. Classes run Tuesday through Friday, with exact hours varying depending on level placement. The Conservatory will include the opportunity to take Acting, Tap, Ballet, Musical Theatre Dance, & Coaching classes weekly. Students will be placed by level for each technique, allowing instructors to provide appropriately leveled training and a student specific schedule and curriculum. Levels will be based on instructor evaluation. The Conservatory's five weekly classes are intended for students who plan to audition for Playhouse Stage Academy productions or pursue BFA programs in college.
Tap - Beginner / Intermediate (Semester - Spring)

For beginning and intermediate dance students of all ages seeking the fundamentals of tap. Learn and build upon the basics of tap dance, and improving your rhythm and coordination.
Acting - Beginner / Intermediate (Semester - Spring)

Learn the foundations of a variety of acting techniques! Explore improvisation and characterization to begin building a "tool belt" of tactics - improving your confidence and performance as a young actor.
Ballet/Modern - Intermediate / Advanced (Semester - Spring)

Strengthen body and core, learn proper alignment, and develop strong ballet & modern technique that will be essential to all other dance techniques required in musical theatre. This is an intermediate / advanced level class for all ages.

Musical Theatre Techniques - Intermediate (Semester - Spring)

Grades 6-8
Focusing on presenting strong, emotionally driven performances through song, students will work on song interpretation in a master class setting. Text analysis, acting exercises and emotional work will take your performance to the next level. All aspects of Musical Theatre performance will play a role in this class - from vocal instruction to physical movement to scenework. Formerly called "Coaching" this class is an ideal place for any student who loves to perform in musicals!
Musical Theatre Dance - Beginner / Intermediate (Semester - Spring)

Jazz technique, strength and flexibility, and performance - all rolled into one! Come dance with us every week as we warm up the body, improve our placement and line, and then rock it out with a combination from your favorite musicals!
